Glenn Whan Award

AWARD GUIDELINES:

ELIGIBILITY: All current and former faculty, staff and students in the School of Engineering are eligible for this award. The award will consist of an etched plaque and printed citation. Presentation of the award will take place annually at the School of Engineering Awards Ceremony in May. Funds remaining after purchase of the plaque should first be put toward the creation of a recognition wall in the Dean’s suite and should later be used to offset costs associated with the Engineering Awards Ceremony.  Deadline for submission is midnight, March 16. 

SELECTION PROCESS: Current and former faculty, staff and students will be considered through nomination. A minimum of one letter of support must be received but supporting letters are encouraged. Letters will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Dean and should address the nominee’s:
A. Community/school service
B. Professional/academic achievements/recognition
C. Participation in professional/academic organizations
D. Reflection of Dr. Whan’s qualities of strong commitment to teaching and to students, exceptionally high standards, dedication, and scientific excellence.
E. Preference should be given to candidates from the Nuclear Engineering Department

VALUE: The above awards will be made annually at the discretion of the Fund Administrator based on the Foundation’s annual spending distribution plus any balance carried forward from the previous year.
