Dr. Taha is Professor and Regents’ Lecturer, Department of Civil Engineering, University of New Mexico, USA. Dr. Taha authored and co-authored more than 200 articles in scholarly journals and refereed conference proceedings. His research interests include nanotechnology for structural composites, structural health monitoring and biomechanics. He has also conducted extensive research in concrete materials and structures. Dr. Taha was awarded the Ralph Powe Junior Faculty Award (2004), Egypt State Award of Encouragement (2005), Stamm Lectureship Award (2007) UNM Regents’ Lecturer (2007) and Faculty Achievement Award from the American Concrete Institute (2010). Dr. Taha’s research is funded by NSF, DOD, DOE and FHWA in excess of US$ 7 million in the last 10 years. He graduated more than 25 MS and PhD students. Dr. Taha is a bridge engineer by training and has participated as an international profession engineer in design of numerous structures in the US, Canada, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
