March 23, 2009
The University of New Mexico Centennial Engineering Center won the 2009 Best Building award in the $20 million and over category at the Best Buildings Award Banquet sponsored by the New Mexico Building Branch of the Associated General Contractors and Southwest Contractor. Approximately 450 people attended the event, held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Isleta Casino and Resort.
CEC general contractor was Bradbury Stamm Construction and Van H. Gilbert was the architect. Building Information Modeling was used during construction, enabling all involved in the project to simultaneously review the project plans on their own computers and offer input on the most cost-effective materials and processes. Through carefully planning, the project team safely completed the project on time, on budget, and on spec. UNM won the outstanding public owner; Bradbury Stamm Construction also won the Outstanding General Contractor award.
