ECE Professor's Group Recognized for Research Excellence

Sudharman Jayaweera, assistant professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and his research group won an award for a paper presented at the IEEE Pacific Rim Conference on Communications, Computers and Signal Processing in Victoria, Canada in Aug. 2011.
“The Impact of Group Cooperation over Competitive Secondary Subnetworks” was written in collaboration with Prof. Wyglinski, his graduate student Si Chen at WPI and Dr. Ghosh at Nokia Research. The paper won the “IEEE PACRIM 2011 Gold Award for Best Communications Paper”.
Jayaweera also delivered the invited plenary talk at the 6th International Conference on Industrial and Information systems in Kandy, Sri Lanka, Aug 16-19th 2011. The title of the talk was "Radiobots: Towards Self-learning Autonomous Cognitive Radios".
His current research interests are in cognitive and cooperative radios, wireless mobile and ad‑hoc sensor networks, networked‑control systems, machine learning, statistical signal processing, smart‑grid communications/control/optimization and network information theory.
