School of Engineering announces Expo elevator pitch winners

Several student teams in The University of New Mexico School of Engineering won prizes elevator pitches at the Engineering Expo III, held May 12 at the Centennial Engineering Center.
The senior design expo featured projects from more than 200 students from all departments in the school.
The winners of the elevator pitch contest were:
First place - $150 – Biomass to biogas via anaerobic digestion of cow manure from dairy farms– Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
Second Place - $150 – Rio Bravo Bridge – Department of Civil Engineering
Third Place - $150 - Smart Surgical Instruments-Bone Density Analysis – Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Fourth Place – $150 - Portable Neutron Knife (PNK) for Cancer Treatment – Department of Nuclear Engineering
Judges for the poster competition were Michael Dexter, president of Bridgers & Paxton and an alumnus from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Ken Prestwich, owner of Kenneth R. Preswich Consulting and an alumnus of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
