March 2, 2018 - By Kim Delker
More than 200 people attended the dedication ceremony for Farris Engineering Center on March 1.
Speaking at the dedication were as well the new UNM president, Garnett Stokes; Provost Chaouki Adballah, New Mexico Rep. Larry Larrañaga; Amy Coburn, UNM’s university architect; Jim and Ellen King Dean of Engineering and Computing Christos Christodoulou; and Dean Emeritus Joseph L. Cecchi.
Many members of the Farris family (the building is named after Marshall E. Farris, former dean of the School) were in attendance as well.
Assisting with the ribbon cutting were robots from the lab of Rafael Fierro, professor of electrical and computer engineering.
The event also included a catered reception and self-guided tours of the various labs and offices in the building.
