September 28, 2020 - by Kim Delker
Edl Schamiloglu, associate dean for research and innovation at The University of New Mexico School of Engineering, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS).
He was elected during the APS September meeting upon the recommendation of the APS Division of Plasma Physics “for original contributions to high-power microwave generation and to charged particle beam generation and propagation.”
The number of APS Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership.
Schamiloglu, who is also a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and assistant to the provost for laboratory relations, became a Fellow of IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in 2002.
