Join the School of Engineering’s Goal Gathering on Nov. 20
November 8, 2023 - by Kim Delker
Before we break to gather with family and friends for the Thanksgiving holiday, we are inviting all faculty and staff in the School of Engineering to come together for a session devoted to developing the steps needed to complete our strategic pathway that will guide us the next few years.
Monday, Nov. 20 will be designated “Goal Gathering” day by Dean Donna Riley. For convenience, the Goal Gathering will be offered in two formats, either in person or online. Participants need only attend one of the formats.
In person, the session will be 9 a.m.-noon in Stamm Commons in the Centennial Engineering Center. Those interested in attending will meet there at 9 a.m. for a brief introduction, then choose a breakout session, where they will be assigned a room. Each breakout session will be tasked with developing goals that will flesh out part of the strategic roadmap for the School, which will be completed early next year.
There is also a Zoom session for those interested in attending virtually. That session will be held 1-4 p.m. Nov. 20. As with the in-person session, participants will be broken up into breakout rooms based on themes, where they will collaborate on goals.
The themes of the plan that have been identified are:
- Improving Student Pathways and Success through Educational Innovation
- Growing Research and Innovation to Advance New Mexico and Humanity
- Developing our People
- Building a Culture of Inclusive Excellence
- Deepening and Expanding Partnerships
- Growing and Managing Resources
In addition to the feedback tool that was sent to faculty, staff and students this fall, there will be one more online feedback tool this semester, where faculty and staff will be given another opportunity to provide goals for the plan. That is expected to be sent out before the end of the fall semester.
