Nomination form

The Distinguished Alumni Award (DAA) gives special recognition to graduates of the University of New Mexico School of Engineering (SOE) who have had distinguished careers after graduation.  All awardees are individuals whose outstanding careers and actions have represented the University and SOE in a positive and exemplary manner while providing important contributions to their respective fields of expertise.

Impact on UNM and The School of Engineering

Has the nominee’s professional and personal successes, including leadership roles, brought positive recognition to UNM and/or the School of Engineering?  Has the nominee actively promoted the School of Engineering to potential students, employers and his or her respective professional community?  Has this individual served as a guest lecturer, adjunct faculty, collaborator with faculty or student mentor?

Professional Accomplishments

Has the nominee achieved a high level of distinction in his or her professional field?  This could be measured by career trajectory, including increasing and varied leadership roles, awards received and substantial contributions to the profession and/or society in general.  

Service to the Community

Has this individual given his or her time, expertise and personal talents to service at local, regional, national or international levels?  Service could include engagement in professional and community organizations, promotion of his/her field of expertise to current and future generations of professionals, and contributions beyond his or her professional expertise that benefit society in general.
