Engineering Expo V
May 2, 2019 - By Kim Delker
The University of New Mexico School of Engineering is hosting fifth annual senior design expo on May 3, featuring projects from around 200 students in the School.
Engineering Expo V will be held 1:30-5 p.m. on the first floor of Centennial Engineering Center. Free parking is available for participants in the P lot on the northwest corner of Central and University.
Students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, prospective students, and corporate sponsors are invited to attend.
Before the event, an annual appreciation luncheon will be served at 11:30 a.m. in the Centennial Engineering Center Courtyard. All students, faculty, staff, and Expo guests are invited to attend.
The Expo will feature student senior design project posters, displays, demos, and an elevator pitch competition.
The poster competition will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Stamm Commons, the elevator pitches will be from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. in the Centennial Engineering Center Auditorium, and a brief awards ceremony will be at 4:45 p.m. in the auditorium.
Jamie Gomez, a lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, is organizing the event. Although all students in the school are expected to complete a capstone project their senior year, she sees this event as more than a requirement.
A brief awards ceremony will be held at the end of the event, and cash awards will be given to winning teams and individuals.
