Department to launch renewable energy concentration
May 10, 2024 - by Kim Delker
The UNM Department of Mechanical Engineering has established a new graduate concentration in renewable energy, set to begin in fall 2024.
The concentration, under the current master of science degree in mechanical engineering, is intended to equip graduate students with broad knowledge and skills in the renewable energy field, said Yu-Lin Shen, chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Students must be accepted into the master’s in mechanical engineering program to be eligible for the concentration. Coursework associated with the renewable energy concentration includes advanced thermodynamics, energy storage and conversion systems, solar thermal technologies and optimal control.
