UNM’s engineering graduate program rank rises in ‘U.S. News’ survey

The University of New Mexico School of Engineering ranked No. 88 in the nation in the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Graduate Schools rankings for engineering, released today.
Last year, the UNM School of Engineering ranked 90. UNM is the only engineering program in New Mexico to rank in the top 100.
The 2025 U.S. News survey also ranked specialty programs. UNM ranked No. 16 in nuclear engineering, No. 82 in electrical engineering, No. 82 in computer engineering, No. 77 in environmental engineering, No. 81 in chemical engineering, No. 97 in civil engineering, No. 105 in computer science, No. 120 in biomedical engineering and No. 106 in mechanical engineering.
The Best Engineering Schools rankings evaluates schools in engineering programs, including 13 specialties: aerospace/aeronautical/astronautical engineering; biological/agricultural engineering; biomedical and bioengineering; chemical engineering; civil engineering; computer engineering; electrical/electronic/communications engineering; environmental/environmental health engineering; industrial/manufacturing/systems engineering; materials engineering; mechanical engineering; nuclear engineering; and petroleum engineering.
