UNM, LANL cohosting muography workshop in November
July 28, 2024 - By Kim Delker
The University of New Mexico and Los Alamos National Laboratory are are cohosting the international 2024 Muographers Workshop, which will be held in Nov. 4-7 in Santa Fe.
Adam Hecht, professor of nuclear engineering and UNM contact for the workshop, said the event “will bring together leading researchers, scientists and practitioners in the field of muography to share their latest discoveries, innovations and applications.”
Muography, also known as muon radiography or muon tomography, is a cutting-edge imaging technique that uses cosmic-ray muons to explore the interior of large and dense structures, Hecht said.
The workshop on muography is part of a conference series. The previous workshop took place June 19-22, 2023, in Naples, Italy.
