May 22, 2024 - by Kim Delker
Members of UNM’s ASME student group pose with their winning projects.
The student chapter of UNM’s American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently received second place in the ASME Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D (IAM3D) Challenge.
The national competition provides an opportunity for mechanical engineering and multi-disciplinary undergraduates to re-engineer existing products or create new designs. Students are evaluated on their creativity, ingenuity, application of engineering design principles and how they utilize additive manufacturing technologies.
The UNM team’s winning project were drones that performed various tasks, such as flying and picking up a cube.
