UNM professor emeritus Nasir Ahmed elected to National Academy of Engineering

Nasir Ahmed, a University of New Mexico alumnus and professor emeritus, has been selected to the National Academy of Engineering’s class of 2026 for his work inventing the discrete cosine transform, which is the data compression format that serves as the basis for most digital media standards.
