Veroff fund still seeking donations
May 22, 2017
The Robert (Bob) Veroff Undergraduate Excellence Fund is around $14,000 away from being endowed and is seeking donations to ensure the fund will be able to provide a scholarship each year to an outstanding senior in the Department of Computer Science in perpetuity.
Robert Veroff is Professor Emeritus of Computer Science at the University of New Mexico. He joined the Computer Science faculty at UNM in 1981 after spending a year at Argonne National Laboratory and for six years served as associate chair of the department.
He was much-loved as a professor. In November 1997, he was voted “Best Teacher at UNM” by students in a Daily Lobo poll, and in May 1998, he was honored with the Faculty Recognition Award, presented by the graduating Computer Science seniors. Veroff’s research was in the area of automated deduction, including the application of automated deduction methods to a variety of problem domains. His work has led directly to the solution of numerous open questions in mathematics and logic, and in May 2003, he was awarded the School of Engineering Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award.
