Annual Awards

Help honor our School’s most outstanding students

Support our Annual Awards recipients

Each year, the School of Engineering honors the most outstanding sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate students in each of its departments and programs. Those honored have often excelled academically, made contributions to research projects, and led student organizations that engage and improve the school community.

Thanks to the generosity of a donor and alumnus, our 2025 outstanding students received $1,000 monetary prizes alongside their awards for the first time ever.

The Annual Awards are followed by a reception known as the Spring Celebration, where our Engineering community and their loved ones come together to celebrate our awardees and the end of the academic year with dinner, ice cream and games like pickleball and cornhole.

UNM Engineering is working to secure donor gifts to endow each of these student awards with a permanent fund that will generate a monetary award for each student, each year. A donor can establish an endowment with a gift of $25,000 or more. This gift can be given in a lump sum or over a period of years and can be funded with cash, stocks or a distribution from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Each endowment can be named for the donor or in honor or memory of a loved one or mentor. To learn more about making a gift to support an outstanding student, please contact one of our Development Officers.
