UNM to Reopen Search for Dean of Engineering
July 1, 2010
Provost Suzanne Ortega says the University of New Mexico will reopen the national search for a new dean at the School of Engineering. Negotiations with the finalists of the last search could not be successfully completed. She is planning to appoint a search committee soon.
Some members of the original committee will be asked to work on the reconstituted search committee. Other members have commitments and cannot serve. She is seeking recommendations for new search committee members. Those recommendations should go to Deputy Provost of Academic Affairs Richard Holder at: vpacad@unm.edu
Ortega says she wants to fast track the search, complete the advertisements this summer and have candidates come to campus for interviews during the fall semester. She is already meeting with faculty and department chairs about the new search and is asking for support as the search moves into a new phase.
