ECE Professor Majeed Hayat named SPIE Fellow
March 6, 2012
Professor Majeed Hayat was elected a Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) on Dec. 15, 2012. This honor was given to Dr. Hayat for his "pioneering work in modeling and understanding impact ionization and noise in avalanche-photodiode devices well as seminal contributions to image processing for reducing noise in infrared focal-plane arrays.” Dr. Hayat received his recognition and plaque at the Photonics West Fellows Luncheon (Monday 23 January 2012 in San Francisco, CA).
Quoting SPIE’s announcement, “SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics. It was founded in 1955 as the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) to advance light-based technologies. Fellows are Members of distinction who have made significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary fields of optics, photonics, and imaging. They are honored for their technical achievement, for their service to the general optics community, and to SPIE in particular.”
