Engineering Expo VII connects students, ideas and corporate partners

On May 6, the School of Engineering hosted Engineering Expo VII, an event that showcases senior design projects to corporate partners and includes a poster competition and elevator pitch contest where winning teams win cash prizes.
The event was held in Stamm Commons and the Larrañaga Engineering Auditorium in Centennial Engineering Center.
Jamie Gomez, a senior lecturer in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, organizes the annual event.
The following teams received cash prizes for their projects:
Poster contest
First place: “NM Capstone Challenge III SANDIA, 2021 – Operation Humpty Dumpty” (students: David Gray, Alexandra Mendez, Zane Parker, Kahveh Varyani, Laura Walker)
Second place (tie): “Sustainable Non-Phosgene Polycarbonate Production from Ethylene & CO2 in Pasadena, TX” (students: Mohammed Al Khazraji, Kristen Batt, Le Quyen Do, Cielo Gonzales, Christian Lisle, Calvin Snyder) and “Enhanced Firefighter Vision System Project” (students: Priya Bhakta, Josiah Castaneda, Qingquan Cui, Ceenu Shaji).
Pitch contest
First place: “UHERO: An Uranium-Helium Recuperated Operations Fission Battery System. Department of Nuclear Engineering” (students: Rashelle Brownlee, Camden Roberts, Caleb Shaw, Delfinio Valdez)
Second place: “Sustainable Non-Phosgene Polycarbonate Production from Ethylene & CO2 in Pasadena, TX.”
Third place: “Development of Pelvic Measurement Tool to Assist Physical Therapists in Treatment of Sacroiliac Dysfunction” (students: Karina Adam, Brandon Orum, Matthew Salcido).
