Finalists selected for dean of School of Engineering

University of New Mexico Provost James Holloway has invited four finalists to campus for the position of Jim and Ellen King Dean of Engineering and Computing at the School of Engineering. Each candidate will meet with faculty, staff, students and community during their visit.

The finalists are Rakesh Nagi, Donna Riley, Anne Robinson and Iris Rivero. Each candidate will hold open forums for students, staff, faculty and also a presentation, which will be open to all.

Rakesh Nagi

Dr. Nagi is Donald Biggar Willett Professor of Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He served as the department head of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering from 2013 to 2019. He also served as the interim director of the Illinois Applied Research Institute from 2016-2018. In 2022, he was the recipient of IISE David F. Baker Distinguished Research Award.

Donna Riley

Dr. Riley is Kamyar Haghighi Head and Professor in the School of Engineering Education and Professor by courtesy in Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Riley joined Purdue in 2017 from Virginia Tech, where she was professor and interim head in the Department of Engineering Education. From 2013-2015, she served as program director for Engineering Education at the National Science Foundation (NSF).

Anne Skaja Robinson

Dr. Robinson became the Head of Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Chemical Engineering in 2018 and Trustee Professor of Chemical Engineering in 2019. Prior to her current appointment, she served as chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Boh Professor of Engineering at Tulane University. In 2022, she was awarded the Marvin Johnson Award from BIOT division of the American Chemical Society.

Iris Rivero

Dr. Rivero is the Kate Gleason Professor and Department Head of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. In addition, she directs the iMED (Interdisciplinary Manufacturing Engineering and Design) laboratory. Prior to joining RIT, she was a member of faculty of the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at Iowa State University.
