Engineering graduate students honored at symposium

Two School of Engineering graduate students in nanomedicine and nanoscience recently received awards at the Rio Grande Symposium on Advanced Materials (RGSAM) 2022 conference.
Angelea Maestas-Olguin, a Ph.D. student and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, received second place in the best poster presentation for graduate students for “Rational Design of Silica-Based Nanoparticles for Overcoming Barriers of siRNA Delivery in Relapsed Prostate Cancer Applications.”

Isabel Ibarra, a master’s student in chemical and biological engineering, received third place in best oral presentation award for “High Temperature Ceramic Catalytic Membrane Reactor for in situ H2 Separation.”
The RGSAM is an applied materials-focused conference gathering researchers from UNM, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories, as well as other universities in the region, such as New Mexico State University and Arizona State University.
