April 21, 2023 - by Kim Delker

The coming few weeks will be a busy time in the School of Engineering, not just because of the end of the semester and finals, but also because of a variety of events for groups ranging from students, alumni and supporters.

On May 5, the Annual Awards ceremony and luncheon will be held in the Centennial Engineering Center Courtyard. The awards, which celebrate outstanding students, faculty and staff in the school, will begin at 10:30 a.m., with lunch catered by Olympia Café beginning at noon. See flier here.

Immediately following the Annual Awards ceremony is Engineering Expo VIII, an event that showcases senior design projects to corporate partners and includes a poster competition and elevator pitch contest. The event will be held 1-4 p.m. in Stamm Commons and the Larrañaga Engineering Auditorium in Centennial Engineering Center. See flier here.

A special event on May 10 will celebrate the renaming of a department to the Gerald May Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering. The renaming is thanks to a donation from alumnus Doug Campbell. The event will be at 4 p.m. in Stamm Commons. To attend, RSVP to engineeringevents@unm.edu or (505) 277-0664.

On May 13, the Reunion Luncheon (previously known as Golden Grads) returns, honoring graduates from the class of 1973. It will be held in Centennial Engineering Center’s Stamm Commons. Check-in begins at 11 a.m., with the luncheon starting at 11:30 a.m. Members of this class should RSVP by May 8 to engineeringevents@unm.edu or (505) 277-0664.

Finally, the semester ends with the spring 2023 Convocation ceremony on May 13. The ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. at University Arena (the Pit). Graduates can sign up at graduation.unm.edu. Those with questions can contact April Davidson at aprild@unm.edu. See flier here.
