Three engineering students receive American Nuclear Society scholarships

Three students in The University of New Mexico Department of Nuclear Engineering have been awarded American Nuclear Society (ANS) scholarships for 2023-24.
Rowdy Davis and Ethan Krammer were both awarded graduate scholarships, and Gibson Prall was awarded the John and Muriel Landis Scholarship.
They were among the 96 students from around the country to receive scholarships totaling $259,600.
Davis, who earned both a bachelor’s and master’s in nuclear engineering at UNM, is a Ph.D. student, as well as a reactor lab supervisor and research engineer at UNM.
Krammer earned a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering and applied mathematics this spring and will continue at UNM for his doctoral studies. He received the U.S. Department of Energy’s University Nuclear Leadership Program (UNLP) graduate fellowship this spring.
Prall is a two-time recipient of the Department of Energy UNLP scholarship. This spring, earned the Outstanding Junior Award for the Department of Nuclear Engineering, and this summer he is interning at Sandia National Laboratories. He plans to continue for graduate school at UNM after he earns his bachelor’s degree.
ANS scholarships are awarded to applicants who have personified the high standards set by the society. Evaluation is based upon numerous factors, such as academic excellence, leadership within the ANS, references, career goals and financial need. Since 1979, over $5 million in scholarships have been distributed.
