Ceremony to honor Mansoor Sheik-Bahae planned for Sept. 30

An event to honor Mansoor Sheik-Bahae, a distinguished professor in the UNM Department of Physics and Astronomy, will be held Sept. 30.
The ceremony to honor his legacy will be Sept. 30 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the Physics and Astronomy Interdisciplinary Science Building (PAIS) auditorium.
He died July 10 of this year. He was known for his work in laser cooling in solids, ultrafast nonlinear optics, and nonlinear optics.
Those interested in attending the Sept. 30 event are asked to RSVP.
There also will be an annual graduate student award to be named after him. Donations can be made in Sheik-Bahae’s honor here.
