Researchers from the PROTON Lab, led by Eirini Eleni Tsiropoulou, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at UNM, have had four research works accepted at the flagship conference of IEEE Communications Society, IEEE GLOBECOM 2023.

The chosen research works reflect a diverse spectrum of cutting-edge topics, ranging from "SAFE: Secure Symbiotic Positioning, Navigation, and Timing" to "Community-based Load Balancing and Prosumers Incentivization in Smart Grid Systems." Each research work not only addresses pertinent challenges but also offers insights that have the potential to reshape the future of wireless communication systems, social networks, smart grid systems, and positioning, navigation and timing solutions.

“This remarkable feat marks not only a testament to the lab's commitment to research excellence but also a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the realm of wireless communications and artificial intelligence,” she said. “Congratulations to PROTON Lab on this remarkable achievement, and here's to the advancement of knowledge and innovation on a global scale!”

PROTON stands for Performance and Resource Optimization in Networks.

Tsiropoulou credits the efforts of her research team — Sadman Siraj, Aisha B. Rahman, Adedamola Adesokan, Nicholas Kemp and Arianna Santamaria — in achieving this success.

“As PROTON Lab stands at the forefront of innovation, this achievement is a testament to the quality and depth of talent within the team. The lab takes immense pride in nurturing such exceptional individuals,” she said.

IEEE Global Communications Conference, the flagship conference under IEEE ComSoc, will be held December 4-8 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
