Town Hall with US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu on Thursday
January 25, 2012
US Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will be at UNM Thursday, January 26th to host a State of the Union Town Hall with students in the Centennial Engineering Center Auditorium.
Secretary Chu will make an announcement about the Energy Department's Solar Decathlon and discuss the Obama administration’s commitment to energy innovation and manufacturing (see blog from Washington Post). All UNM students are highly encouraged to attend!
For the Solar Decathlon, 20 collegiate teams from the US and other countries are to design, build and test energy-efficient exemplary houses. These teams spend two years creating the Solar Decathlon entries to compete in the 10 juried contests. Like the name sake, Decathlon, the events pit the teams against each in the areas of Architecture, Market Appeal, Engineering, Communications, Affordability, Comfort Zone, Hot Water, Energy Balance, Appliances, and Home Entertainment.
