September 13, 2022 - by Kim Delker

Two programs in The University of New Mexico School of Engineering were ranked in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, released Sept. 12.

The School of Engineering’s overall undergraduate program ranked No. 87 (up from (No. 96 last year) in institutions that grant doctoral degrees, and computer science ranked No. 94 (up from 122 last year).

"I want to thank all of the faculty and staff over the last few years, whose hard work and dedication has made this happen," said Christos Christodoulou, Jim and Ellen King Dean of Engineering and Computing. "Rankings are notoriously hard to move upward, and this is a testament to the hard work that our faculty and staff do with our undergraduate education."

To appear on an undergraduate engineering survey, a school must have an undergraduate engineering program accredited by ABET. All of the School of Engineering’s programs are ABET-accredited.

In addition, UNM ranked No. 212 for national universities. They also ranked No. 90 (up from No. 113 last year) in social mobility. Statewide, UNM has the best national rankings among New Mexico universities, including the categories of best university, undergraduate nursing, top public school, undergraduate and graduate engineering and business schools.
