Riley appointed to National Science Foundation advisory committee for engineering

Donna Riley, Jim and Ellen King Dean of Engineering and Computing, has been appointed to the advisory committee for the Directorate for Engineering at the National Science Foundation (NSF).
The appointment is for a three-year term, ending June 2026. As a member of the 15-member committee, Riley will provide advice and recommendations concerning support for research, education and related activities for the NSF for all engineering disciplines. The committee is tasked with reviewing and advising on the impact of research support program in the disciplines and fields encompassed by the Directorate for Engineering.
The committee members will also work to build partnerships with the industrial community through membership, joint activities, and the receiving of advice from industry members, as well as advising on program management, overall program balance and other aspects of program performance. The committee is authorized to advise on the impact of overall NSF-wide polices on the engineering community.
Riley has prior experience working with the NSF. In addition to receiving an NSF CAREER Award in 2005, she was program director for engineering education at the NSF from 2013-15.
